The NSIS has a mandate to identify threats against the security of Kenya, collect and analyze intelligence on these threats, and advise the Government accordingly through appropriate intelligence reports.

WELCOME
The National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS) was created in January 1999 with the enactment of the National Security Intelligence Service Act, 1998.
 
THE NSIS ACT
In 1998, a new act of Parliament in Kenya established the National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS) to replace the former Directorate of Security Intelligence which was commonly known as the "Special Branch" and which was part of the Kenya Police Department.
